Secret Solstice is a four-day outdoor music festival held at Laugardalsvöllur, Reykjavík’s main stadium and park complex, every June around the summer solstice. The defining feature is simple: in Iceland in mid-June, the sun does not set. Every concert, every late-night set, every moment of the festival takes place under full daylight. The festival

The event runs across multiple stages within the Laugardalsvöllur site, spanning rock, electronic, hip-hop, and pop. Headliners are typically a mix of internationally recognised acts and Icelandic artists; the full lineup is announced in the months before the festival. In past years, the organisers have also offered exclusive “secret” add-on experiences — concerts in a glacier, inside a lava tunnel, or at other unusual Icelandic locations — available at a premium above the standard wristband price.

The site includes food vendors, bars, and camping facilities. Camping within the festival grounds is available as a ticket add-on, which removes the need to commute from a hotel each day. The stadium’s park setting is large enough to avoid the crush of smaller festival grounds.

Mid-June in Reykjavík is Iceland’s warmest period, but “warm” is relative — temperatures typically sit between 8°C and 15°C, with wind a factor in open outdoor spaces.
